Fire destroyed five classrooms, a desk storeroom and a bookstore on the third floor of SK Taman Samudera, Gombak, Selangor, today.

A school staff member alerted the Gombak Fire and Rescue Department of the fire at 11.53am, said fire-fighting operation commander Azman Mahat.

A team of 21 fire fighters from the Selayang, Rawang and Gombak Selatan stations arrived at the scene within minutes of the call, he said.

Azman said the fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes later. There were no casualties.
The school’s senior administrative assistant, Mastini Suffian, said as soon as the fire alarm went off, teachers herded the 300 students out of the classrooms to assemble at the designated emergency site.
